Céline Finas

“At work, I quantify risk. In the mountains, I master it.”

Celine Finas

Biography

From northern France (Lambres-lez-Douai), Céline Finas first built her endurance through orienteering before stepping into ultra-trail. She now splits her time between Lausanne, where she works, and Chamonix, her mountain base. She made a statement by winning the UT4M Challenge (2021), then levelled up with victory at the GRP Ultra 160K (2023). She confirmed her place among the best with a TDS podium at UTMB Mont-Blanc (2024) and a major win at the X-Alpine (Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB, 2025).

Key highlights

GRP Ultra 160K: winner (2023)

Céline won the Grand Raid des Pyrénées Ultra 160, delivering a strong, controlled race (31:33:25).

X-Alpine (Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB): winner (2025)

On a demanding mountain ultra (141.4K / 9,200m+), she took the win in 24:43:09.

TDS (UTMB Mont-Blanc): podium (2024)

She earned a TDS podium, one of UTMB week’s most technical races, confirming her place among the very best.

Away from racing, Céline works in a highly analytical field: she is an actuarial engineer, based in Paris, with a background at Centrale Paris. Risk, probabilities and long-term thinking are part of her daily life — and they naturally shape her approach to ultra: clear judgement, precision and the ability to stay in control for hours. She also carries a strong “outdoors” DNA from orienteering, with a love for terrain, autonomy, and making the right calls when fatigue kicks in.
